Remember that your password is case-sensitive, so check your CAPS LOCK key (make sure the CAPS
LOCK light on your keyboard is off). Please confirm you are entering your
password using the specific case required for each letter. Usernames are not case-sensitive.
If you believe your userID and password that you are using are correct and you are
unable to login to Training Center please review the following potential causes:
Do you have cookies enabled?
In order for Training Center to function cookies must be enabled.
Do you have an active firewall on this computer?
In order for Training Center to function any local firewall product should
either be configured to allow all traffic from www.totalreader.com or deactivated.
For Windows PC's, examples of a personal firewall include the built-in firewall, applications such as Norton Internet Security/Norton Firewall,
Sygate Pro, ZoneAlarm Pro, BlackICE, McAfee as well as others. If you have one of these third-party firewalls installed, please contact the support
centers for each of these products for details about configuring or disabling your firewall.
For Macs, examples of a personal firewall include the built-in firewall (OS X/Jaguar), Netbarrier, Doorstop, BrickHouse, Firewalk, and Norton Internet Security for OS X/Norton Firewall for OS X.
Do you have an active popup blocker on this computer?
In order for Training Center to function any local popup blocker
product should either be configured to allow all popups
from www.totalreader.com or deactivated.
Browse to a different external site such as http://www.ford.com to confirm your
communications link is active and functioning. If you cannot see another
site you most likely have a problem with your network connection or your
external Internet link is down. Contact your local Network Administrator
or Technology Coordinator for support.

How To Disable the Built-in Firewall in Mac OS X (ver 10.1 - NOT Jaguar - see below for Jaguar)
Mac OS X includes firewall software you can use to block unwanted network communication with your computer.
By default it's switched off. You can use a firewall to protect all of the services available in Mac OS X, such as Personal File
Sharing, Windows Sharing, and Remote Login. Using a firewall protects the services on your computer
from users on other networks or the Internet. The firewall used by Mac OS X is called "ipfw" which
stands for "ipfirewall".
IMPORTANT - The firewall built into Mac OS X includes ports for each of the services
listed in the Services pane of Sharing preferences. You cannot edit the firewall ports used
by built-in services. They are enabled and disabled automatically when you turn the
corresponding service on or off in the Services pane. When you select a service in the
Services pane of Sharing preferences, it is automatically selected in the Firewall pane.
Open System Preferences-you can do so quickly by using the Apple menu.
Click Sharing to open the "Sharing" preferences pane.
Now click Services.
Disable the service to turn off the firewall for that service.
Firewall access for the service is set accordingly.
To see the change, select the "Firewall" tab from the "Sharing" preferences pane
Make sure that the appropriate box is checked in the "Allow" list
Alternate Method of Confirming the Built-in Firewall is Off
To check that the firewall is in fact disabled, please run the following command in Terminal (The Terminal application is in /Applications/Utilities):
sudo ipfw list
If the response is "allow ip from any to any" as the sole response from 'ipfw list' this means
that the firewall is not active and not blocking any packets at all.
Pop-Up blockers will prevent all pop-ups from opening on your computer, even ones that are necessary on the Training Center website. Below are the steps to disable popular Popup Blocking software applications.
